"WHAT I DID FOR LOVE" WAS SUNG BY ST.AUGUSTINE PRIEST FOR HIS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Pat Clarke and I swooned when we watched Father Frank Lechiara sing from the stage of Art Bruns' Playhouse Villas. He warbled Marvin Hamlisch's words from "Chorus Line"to beloved parishioners who dabbed hankies at their moist eyes. What I Did For Love, became Father Lechiara's  anthem

"The Way We Were" gave Barbra Streisand a theme that made audiences smooth over her prominent proboscis; and who can forget "The Entertainer" and Woody Allen's "Bananas"?He scored dozens of films plus Broadway and his opulent compositions live on to play in our memories of being loved. Before his death at 68, Hamlisch spoke to the wall Street Journal and said that critics played down the importance of music in establishing emotions. "I'd love for them to see a movie  once with out the music,"
he said.
