Inez Andreas Who Put Barry University Into Upper Monied Circles, Died At 95

My dear friend Doris Hastings grew up in Minneapolis and was close to Inez and Dwayne Andreas; in fact, she godmothered their first-born. Formerly of Bal Harbour, Doris moved to Palm Beach with husband Dr. Larry Hastings, a doctor-lawyer-engineer and president of the Surf Club.

Publicity averse, the Andreas family has a reputation as "quiet givers," not those whose main vanity is commanding newspaper raves.

A private family memorial service will be held at Barry University at a later date. Inez was very close to President Jeanne O'Laughlin, whose wisest move was recognizing robust greatness. For 20 years Inez was chairman of Barry University Board of Directors and is chairman emeritus of Barry and American Red Cross National Board of Directors.

Sister Jeanne recognized a noble doer in Inez Andreas; they are cut from the same cloth. Faithful and enthusiastic for life in many ways, their fervent prayers moved many to imitate their glorious giving natures. Sister Jeanne's photograph in the Sunday Herald a few weeks ago, made me thrum with delight. I remember her dancing with a man for a promised million dollar donation to Barry University.
