Hair We Go Again! You Can't Fight This --Your Tresses Are Stressed From Being Old

Rough treatment you think? The average adult has about 100,000 hair follicles on the head and loses 50 to 100 hairs a day.

By age 80, we've lost 30 percent of hair follicles' growing hair. Hair is especially weak when wet. Even a towel twisted into a tight turban can be damaging.

The latest anti-aging product push is pricey hair care, way beyond removing gray. Teens to 20s have hair that is healthy and attractive in its natural state as it will ever be. In your 30s and 40s, gray steals its way into your coif. Hair may seem thinner. Breakage occurs from zealous brushing and heat styling plus chemical processing.

At 50s and older, hair is more fragile and more likely to break or suffer from exposure to UV rays and other stresses.

Poor tresses being stressed...with hormonal shifts at fault. (Did you ever hear a hormone?) Older hair may need to be cut every six to eight weeks to look its best. Every two to three months is probably enough for younger hair.
